Fall 2024 Season Updates​

UNCW Rugby finished the regular season with a record of 4-1. Our B side finished the season with a great season as well, where we had a full B side at all matches. In all it has been a great season that challenged us in all matches. We started the season facing a Division 1AA team in University of South Carolina, which was our only loss on the season. Final Score was 33-19 and we played a hard physical match in the second half that saw us play to our potential. Our B side as well had there first match and played well in defeat 15-5. We knew after this match that we needed to refocus and be better prepared for the next match ahead. Our next match was against a Southern Rugby Conference (SRC) opponent that was also a D1AA team in UNC-Charlotte. We started this match out strong and finished the match with a final score of 20-7. Our B side played there second match and came out swinging and finished the match with a win 17-5. The third match was against a very strong SRC team in NC State, which is also a D1AA team. We knew they were gonna be a very physical team and that we would have to be more physical and execute at a high level. We finished this game with a hard fought win 23-22. Our B side played its third match of the season and lost in a full 80 minute match. Even though our B side lost they all got better and got a chance to play in a full 15's match. The next match was against an always physical and very good SRC team in Coastal Carolina. Over the years this has turned into a great rivalry and we were able to play well and come out with a win 45-26. Our B side played its 4th match of the season as well and fought hard but lost the match to a very good Coastal B side. The last regular season match was against our long time rival East Carolina Rugby and we came out firing right away and finished the match strong with a win 55-10. Our B side also had it's last match of the season and played a great final match in a loss to ECU Rugby's B side. We did have Appalachian State on our schedule as well, but this match was canceled due to the Hurricane Helene disaster in Western NC mountains area. We are hoping to see App State rebound and be back out on the pitch next spring.

Next we prepare for National Collegiate Rugby Playoffs in Culpepper, Virginia. We play Friday, November 22 vs a TBD opponent. Kickoff time, and field location will be shared soon.
